My Personal List of the Best Web Comics (Updated 2017)

UPDATED May 25th, 2017 - Just added a few new ones I have stumbled across since my last update.

UPDATED JAN 1st 2016! Hey! Since I created this list, I have come across many new webcomics that I felt deserved a spot here, so I am finally updating this page with my complete list of favorites, as of the end of 2015. Enjoy!

Intro: I love webcomics, probably more so than print comics. Over the past year I have tried to find as many of the funniest ones as possible (at least in my own opinion) and have been slowly adding them to my Google Reader InoReader subscriptions one by one. I have a huge list now, and I figured I might as well share it so if there are others looking to add to their collection, they can find a whole bunch of new stuff to read all in one blogger post.
For each webcomic, I will include the main URL, a direct link to the RSS feed (for Feedly, InoReader, or other RSS readers), a sample comic from the site that is a personal favorite of mine, a short description, and of course, the title of the series. One caveat to this list is that I tend not to enjoy comics that rely heavily on continuity; that is, I prefer comics that don't require the reader to have read previous episodes to understand the current comic strip. However, there are a few of those on my list that I couldn't resist subscribing to. Anyways, enjoy the list!
If you think I would enjoy a webcomic that is not on the list, feel free to leave the URL in the comments or email me at joshblogs.com@gmail.com

When I find new webcomics that I like, and believe me this will happen, I will try to remember to add them to this page.

My Favorite Webcomics (In No Particular Order):

Title: Antics
Antics Comic, Stinky Buttes, hanged at dawn
URL: http://www.anticscomic.com

RSS: http://www.anticscomic.com/?feed=rss2

Description: Aptly named, this comic features the hilarious antics of two main characters, Fletcher and Copernicus. One of my absolute favorites and have never found one of their comics to not be funny.

Title: The Perry Bible Fellowship
perry bible fellowship comic penguins enemy enimy
URL: http://pbfcomics.com/

RSS: http://pbfcomics.com/feed/feed.xml

Description: Doesn't update very often any more, but when they do, they are usually quite funny.

Title: Hilarity Comics
hilarity comics: pee on everything, million dollars
URL: http://hilarity.chickennation.com/

RSS: Doesn't seem to have one

Description: Rarely updates, and only about a handful of comics to begin with, but still hilarious and worth looking through the archives. Some are extremely offensive and graphic comics though, so if you are easily offended, go some place else.

Title: CompletelySeriousComics
URL: http://completelyseriouscomics.com

RSS: http://completelyseriouscomics.com/?feed=rss2

Description: Completely random and nonsensical are the qualities that makes this series such a riot. Author also sometimes includes short snippets of information related to the current strip, such as how he was inspired to create it because of a new video game he is playing. Update: Author has announced end as of 12/8/2015

Title: Toothpaste For Dinner
Toothpaste for Dinner: Ambien Walrus
URL: http://toothpastefordinner.com/

RSS: www.toothpastefordinner.com/rss/rss.php

Description: The nice thing about TFD comics is that they are usually just one panel and very short, so they are a quick way to get laughing fast. There is over 3,000 TFD comics in the archives to look through, and a new comic every day.

Title: Loading Artist
URL: http://www.loadingartist.com/

RSS: http://www.loadingartist.com/feed/

Description: Loading Artist is a relatively new webcomic, I believe a year-old at this point, but already becoming one of my favorites. Comics are sometimes related to the life of the creator, but never build off each other, so no need to read the comics in a certain order (a quality I like).

Title: Endless Origami
URL: http://endlessorigami.com

RSS: http://endlessorigami.com/feed/

Description: EndlessOrigami is heavy on the references to pop culture and internet memes, but still is able to maintain originality and be amusing.

Title: Gun Show Comic
Gun Show Comic: bedtime paradox

URL: http://gunshowcomic.com

RSS: http://www.rsspect.com/rss/gunshowcomic.xml

Description: Sometimes the comics are continuous and the story is spread across multiple episodes, but there are also a lot of random single comic strips, like this one. A very random and insane comic and just as funny.

Title: Hejibits

URL: http://www.hejibits.com

RSS: http://www.hejibits.com/feed/

Description: Although I normally don't like webcomics that mainly revolve around video games (as this one does), Hejibits also features some comics that are unrelated to gaming and furthermore, John Kleckner is amazing at drawing the funniest facial expressions ever (just look at the mom's expression in the third panel). Lots of minecraft references for those who enjoy that game.

Title: XKCD
XKCD: How Standards Profilerate, competing standards
URL: https://www.xkcd.com/

RSS: https://www.xkcd.com/rss.xml

Description: C'mon, I had to include it... Anyways, although it is probably the most popular webcomic on this list, XKCD is actually not one of my top favorites. Can be rather dry and although it presents itself as being extremely scientific, it often has misinformation in it or presents information in a way that isn't exactly accurate. However, from time to time it makes me laugh and has a lot of tech related jokes that I enjoy, so I felt I had to include it on my list.

Title: Whomp!
URL: http://www.whompcomic.com

RSS: http://www.whompcomic.com/rss.php

Description: "Whomp!" is another comic strip that makes lots of video game references, as well as anime references, but I still enjoy from time to time. There is little continuity between strips, so that is a plus, and the facial expressions are also rather hilarious. Also, fat jokes. Lots of fat jokes.

Title: Time Trabble
Time Trabble: Pizza Cake

URL: http://timetrabble.com

RSS: http://timetrabble.com/feed/

Description: Time Trabble is as random as it is funny; very.

Title: Three Word Phrase
Three Word Phrase: Poop Everywhere
URL: http://www.threewordphrase.com

RSS: http://www.threewordphrase.com/rss.xml

Description: Three Word Phrase is awesome. Seriously, out of all the webcomics I have ever seen, this is my all time, number one favorite webcomic. They are always short, hilarious, and most importantly, full of potty humor.

Title: Space Avalanche
URL: http://www.spaceavalanche.com/

RSS: http://www.spaceavalanche.com/?feed=rss2

Description: It is not updated that often and there aren't that many strips to begin with, but still worth combing through the archives for some really funny gems.

Title: Something of That Ilk

URL: http://www.somethingofthatilk.com/

RSS: http://www.somethingofthatilk.com/rss/index.php

Description: Lots of programming and technology related jokes, so if that kind of stuff confuses you, this webcomic might not be for you. Then again, there are strips like this one that are unrelated, so I would still recommend checking it out to everyone. It appears this comic disappeared... :(

Title: Adventuresome
Adventuresome: Hamster at the DMV
URL: http://www.adventuresome.ca/

RSS: http://www.adventuresome.ca/feed/

Description: Updated infrequently, but still worth subscribing to. Love the way animals are drawn in this comic series.

Title: ShoeboxBlog - Chuck & Beans / Random Russ / Etc
ShoeBoxBlog: The Three Stages of Gaming
URL: http://www.shoeboxblog.com/
RSS: http://officialshoebox.tumblr.com/rss
Description:There are a whole bunch of different comic strips posted at ShoeboxBlog, but the best seem to be "Chuck & Beans" (like the one above) and "Random Russ".

Title: Eat That Toast
Eat That Toast: Rustler Revenge on Twitter
URL: http://eatthattoast.com/

RSS: http://eatthattoast.com/feed/rss/

Description: I just this week found this webcomic series and have had a blast looking through the archives. Seriously funny stuff. Some profanity, so if you are bothered by that kind of stuff, go *%$# yourself.

Title: Left-Handed Toons
Left Handed Toons: Science Wayne, hand sprouting, hockey sticks are sprouting

URL: http://www.lefthandedtoons.com/

RSS: http://feeds.feedburner.com/lefthandedtoons/awesome

Description: Left-Handed Toons is the first webcomic I really got into, and consequently, one of my favorites. Created by Drew Mokris and Justin Boyd, this webcomic is just too funny not to have in your RSS feed. Justin Boyd is also behind Draw Until It's Funny (DUIF) and his new series, Invisible Bread, which is equally as hilarious, if not more so, than the other two.

Title: Draw Until It's Funny (DUIF)
URL: http://www.drawuntilitsfunny.com

RSS: http://feeds.feedburner.com/DUIF

Description: The creation of Justin Boyd (previously discussed) and Ryan Hudson (creator of Channelate), this comic is rarely updated any more, as both creators are quite busy with their other comics. Still worth combing through their archives for some laughs though.

Title: Channelate
URL: http://www.channelate.com

RSS: http://feeds.feedburner.com/channelATE

Description: Haha, the one strip above always makes me laugh. Most of the stuff from Ryan Hudson (creator of Channelate) is this funny, so worth subscribing to. He also usually includes funny related anecdotes for each strip, so make sure not just glance at the pictures, but actually read the titles and content of the posts.

Title: Invisible Bread
URL: http://invisiblebread.com

RSS: http://feeds.feedburner.com/InvisibleBread

Description: The name "Justin Boyd" keeps popping up on my list, wonder why? Cause he is freaking awesome! Invisible Bread is a new creation of his, started in March of 2011, and every comic strip since then has been off the charts hilarious. In addition, he is super active in updating the series, comments all the time and will respond to comments left on the comics, and provides funny commentaries. Invisible Bread also has hidden comic panels for every strip, although I'll never tell you where muahaha. Anyways, go ahead and subscribe. You should also help Justin out and like the comic on Facebook, to help get the word out about this seriously awesome webcomic.

Title: Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal (SMBC)
Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal (SMBC): Student Loan

URL: http://www.smbc-comics.com/

RSS: http://www.smbc-comics.com/rss.php

Description: A bit science-y for most, but I love the programming/science/etc jokes and the random ones too. Updates very frequently and now also features videos. If you are a religious nut, then A) go away and B) you won't enjoy this webcomic. For everyone else, this stuff is comedy gold.

Title: AmazingSuperPowers
URL: http://www.amazingsuperpowers.com/

RSS: <http://feeds.feedburner.com/amazingsuperpowers

Description: AmazingSuperPowers is not a webcomic about a superhero with a broken spacebar. That being said, it is still awesome. Although the creepy-completely-white-blank-as-paper eyes are a little off putting, this series always has comical facial expressions and witty dialogue. Plus... HIDDEN COMICS!!! WHEEE!

Title: Mocktopus
Mocktopus: Time Traveler

URL: http://www.mocktopus.com

Description: I'm not sure exactly what is going on with the future of this webcomic. The last update was on October 4th, 2011, and there has been no update since, even though it is supposed to have new panels every Tuesday and Thursday. Judging from the creator's twitter account, it looks as though he might be starting college, which would explain why he is too busy to update the series. Still an excellent webcomic to comb through though. Update: The author took down his comics :(

Title: Mr. Lovenstein
Mr. Lovenstein: Fridge of Shame
URL: http://www.mrlovenstein.com/

RSS: http://www.mrlovenstein.com/rss.xml

Description: If you find morbidity, depression, and general bizarre scenarios hilarious, you will thoroughly enjoy Mr. Lovenstein. You should also go see a doctor.

Title: Buni
URL: http://www.bunicomic.com/

RSS: http://www.bunicomic.com/feed/

Description: Buni isn't really a laugh-out-loud/pee-your-pants kind of webcomic for me, but I think it is amazing how complex stories and comedic situations can be shown without words. Almost no words are used in any of the comic strips, but you can still understand what each panel is trying to tell you; a pretty amazing feat. Also, be warned: some of the strips are as sad as the above is funny.

Title: Buttersafe
Buttersafe: Feed Me, wolf howling at moon
URL: http://buttersafe.com

RSS: http://buttersafe.com/feed/

Description: Odd name, funny comics. 'Nough said.

Title: Thor's Thundershack
URL: http://www.thorsthundershack.com

RSS: http://www.thorsthundershack.com/rss?id=1

Description: I just recently found this webcomic, and am not a huge fan, but this strip in particular I find to be rather amusing and so I thought it was worth including. For a full view, click on the image to the left.

Title: Chainsawsuit

Description: In my top 6, Chainsawsuit is a hilarious webcomic that updates frequently, includes witty commentary, and often bases jokes on real world current events and/or popular culture. Definitely worth adding to your bookmarks.

Title: Comic Blasphemy

Description: Just found this one about a week ago, but steadily becoming a favorite. Lots of profanity and graphic material, so it should be no surprise that I am enjoying it so much already.
Update: Site is gone :(

Title: Abstruse Goose

Description: More text than most webcomics, but worth the extra time to read them. No commentary and not much information on the website.

Title: Lead Paint Comics
Lead Paint Comics: Cranston the Dinner-Suggestion Pony, pizza bagels

Description: Usually really funny, like the above strip, but sometimes it will switch a story mode, where each strip is part of a larger plot, which makes it a bit hard to follow and less enjoyable to read, at least to me. Love the random ones like this one though (although technically Cranston is a reoccurring character).

Title: Doghouse Diaries

Description: Lots of tech stuff, hating on Apple, and silly graphs... what is there for me not to like?

Title: Pictures for Sad Children

Description: A rather strange webcomic that seems to go back and forth between random nonsensical humor, and long preachy sermons. Still worth checking out though.
Update: This webcomic came to a bizarre end.

Title: Mummy Comics

Description: Mummy Comics usually hurts my eyes a little to read, what with the fain print and emphasis on contrast, but it is still my fourth favorite webcomic. Very, very, very funny stuff. Love the facial expression too, especially the expressive eyebrows.

Title: Nedroid Picture Diary

Description: AWWW YEAHHH... HELL YEAH. Time for my second favorite webcomic of all time! Nedroid is non-stop side-splitting laughter producing hilariousness, and I can't get enough of it. Good lord, the facial expressions just kill me in this webcomic, like the face on the reindeer in the final panel. Non-linear stories make for great quick enjoyment without needing to sit down and read the series in order, while the characters do indeed stay the same throughout most of the series. Seriously, I can't say enough good things about this webcomic, just go check it out already!

Title: Cyanide and Happiness
Cyanide and Happiness: Butt Flu

RSS: http://explosm-feed.antonymale.co.uk/feed (not official RSS, but better because it has the images embedded)

Description: C'monnn, you knew it was coming! Cyanide and Happiness is hard for me to rank on my list, but it is most definitely in the top three, perhaps even tying with another webcomic for first or second place. As most people are already familiar with this series, I won't go into much description, besides to say that it is very nonsensical, obscene, and witty.

Title: Extra Ordinary

Description: Not only is the dialog whimsical, but the artwork is also amazing in this webcomic series by Li Chen. I love the shading and shadows from lighting, as well as the facial expressions and the way she draws body language. The attention to detail is also remarkable (the monocle on the cat in the final panel for instance).

Title: Edmund Finney's Quest to Find the Meaning of Life

Description: Although it pretty much breaks my cardinal rule for webcomics (no drawn out continuity between strips), I still enjoy this webcomic from time to time. In addition, although the story is indeed continued from strip to strip, you don't necessarily need to read them in order, as the story doesn't change much; basically a guy just travels from place to place.

Title: Feel Afraid Comics

Description: Updates are incredibly sporadic and infrequent, but the webcomics are priceless. Worth digging through the archives. Sometimes it can get a bit too absurd, to the point of not making much sense, but still enjoyable nonetheless.

Title: Dinosaur Comics
URL: http://www.qwantz.com

RSS: http://www.rsspect.com/rss/qwantz.xml
Description: Because this webcomic uses the exact same graphic background for every strip, it relies almost exclusively on the dialogue of the comic to execute the joke. It does this well though, and is quickly becoming a favorite of mine, despite me finding it only about a month or two ago.

Title: Poorly Drawn Lines
Poorly Drawn Lines: Books 4 Lyfe

URL: http://poorlydrawnlines.com

RSS: http://feeds.feedburner.com/PoorlyDrawnLines

Description: In general, not a webcomic that I enjoy all that much, but from time to time they will come out with one that I can't help but laugh at, so I felt it was worth including.

Shimmering and White (aka Beth Evans's comics)
Beth Evans - Ordering Online
URL: http://butthorn.tumblr.com/

RSS: http://butthorn.tumblr.com/rss
Most of Beth Evan's comics are somewhat auto-biographical, commonly touching on her own anxiety disorder. Frequently equally depressing as they are hilarious.

Up and Out (By Jeremy Kaye)

Description: Random. Colorful. Funny.

Wondermark
Wondermark, Opions are Like Polyp Covered Buttholes

Hark A Vagrant - Ben Franklin Flies His Kite
URL: http://www.harkavagrant.com

RSS: http://www.harkavagrant.com/rssfeed.php

Pain Train
Pain Train, the crying man inside the ATM

Sketchamagowza (aka Butthug aka comics by Shmorky
Sketchamagowza - Cube versus Sphere, but cones are straight out
URL: http://butthug.com/

RSS: http://butthug.com/rss
Description: Think Gravity Falls meets Adventure Time meets Steven Universe, but all with Adult Swim type humour (i.e., 99% NSFW, violent, abstract, etc). Shmorky's artistic style is so unique and pleasing, I would love to see an entire show animated in this style. For now, I can settle for the adventures of business cat.

MercWorks
